Suburbia

Suburbia bedeutet Vorstadt. Elf Künstler zeigen in dieser Ausstellung ihren Blick auf indische Vorstädte. In Farb- und
Schwarzweißaufnahmen, digital und analog erzählen sie von der Vergänglichkeit, den Gegensätzen und Problemen,
aber auch von der Poesie des rasanten Wachstums von Metropolen. Die Bilder sind eine Auswahl der Erstausgabe
von PIX, einer Fotozeitschrift des indischen Kurators Rahaab Allana und dem Goethe-Institut Neu Delhi. PIX zeigt Fotografie
der Gegenwart und einer Generation des digitalen Zeitalters. Jede Ausgabe hat einen thematischen Schwerpunkt,
für den Fotografen ihre Arbeiten einreichen können. Rahaab Allana beschäftigt sich seit Jahren als Kurator, Texter und Ausstellungsmacher mit Fotografie. Er wird bei der Vernissage der Ausstellung am 11.9.,18.00 Uhr im Goethe-Institut Hamburg anwesend sein.

Suburbia

Suburbia means suburbs. In this exhibition, 11 artists present their view of Indian suburbs. In both colour and
black and white, digital and analogue, they talk about the transiency, the contradictions and problems, but also about
the poetic aspects that are connected with rapidly growing metropolises. The pictures are a selection from the first edition
of PIX, a photography magazine by the Indian curator Rahaab Allana and the Goethe Institute in New Delhi. PIX
shows contemporary photography of a generation whose aesthetics have been strongly influenced by digital media.
Each edition focuses on a particular theme, on which photographers can submit their work. Rahaab Allana has been working with photography as a curator, songwriter and exhibitor for many years. He will be present at the vernissage of the exhibition on 11 Sept. at 6 pm at the Goethe Institute Hamburg.
