Bombay… the NewYork of India…. BOMBAY JAZZ !!!!!!

“1981 began my personal journey as a 17 year old teenager with Indian music… not directly that time as I visited an open air concert of the world music/fusion trio John McLaughlin, Al di Meola and Paco De Lucia… Unconciously I was pulled into this music of Jazz, Flamenco and what I found out later… into Indian Classical music (which on its own is the back bone even for Western Classics and Jazz) by listening to John McLaughlin’s Shakti (with Zakir Hussain and L. Shankar) and The Mahavishnu Orchestra.
27 years later in spring 2008 I had John McLaughlin front camera for a 28 minutes TV special, which later in January 2010 was re-broadcasted as one hours radio show “Miles from India” (with reference to the premiere of the CD release in May 2008 in N.Y.). Same end of 2008 I had the pleasure to meet Trilok Gurtu in the Hamburg radio studio for a StudioTalk production. It was an extra ordinary experience learning about music (and life).”
