Bollywood calls for a better India on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 26 (PTI) Summoning the spirits of patriotism and unity, Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi have called on fans to make India a better country this 62nd Republic Day.

The stars took to micro-blogging site Twitter to wish everybody and express their vision of a better India.

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes. Happy Republic Day guys,” tweeted Salman, adding, “Corruption hattao (remove) guys, we are all guilty of it. Lene waala bhi aur dene waala bhi (The one who takes and also the one who gives)”
“Happy Republic Day! May God Bless our land with greater resilience, peace and prosperity! And may we all respect it,” Bachchan wrote on his Twitter page.

Vivek posted, “We are one nation, with one vision and one identity, together we stand tall, together we stand united and together we are proud to be Indian! Happy Republic Day.”
“Express your true patriotism and what”s in your heart, celebrate Republic Day in its true spirit. Go out there and find an Indian in need… you have the strength and power to help. Bring a smile to a person’s face, make a difference, improve your India… as Gandhiji said, be the change you want to see in the world. The future of this great nation lies in our hands,” he added.

Actress Shilpa Shetty echoed Salman”s sentiments, posting, “Freedom isn”t selective, it is either complete, unfettered or it is not freedom. Celebrate your rights. Happy Republic day.”
“Today is a day of national pride. So, let”s not speak of our present politicians. Jai Hind,” wrote veteran singer Asha Bhosle.

“Happy Republic Day my fellow Indians. May we always know that being an Indian is the best thing that happened to us. Jai Hind!,” posted actor Anupam Kher.

True to her chirpy nature, actress Preity Zinta brought in the holiday mood, writing, “Happy Republic day guys ! JAI HIND !!!! Today is all about watching the republic day parade & chilling at home!” PTI BB
