WOMAD Presents… At The Tower Festival: 19th – 20th September 2009

PETER GABRIEL’S celebrated festival of world music WOMAD is to come to London for the first time in over 10 years. WOMAD PRESENTS is a series of one off performances from artists woven together from all over the world.

WOMAD and The Tower Festival (in association with Songlines) have come together to offer a unique World Music experience set in the historical grounds of the Tower of London. As part its biggest project ever staged in London, WOMAD will be bringing with the best in world music artists, street entertainment and workshops offering the audience the opportunity to discover what makes the artists tick.

SATURDAY 19th SEPTEMBER *

4.45-5.15pm: Dulsori (South Korea)
5.45-6.15pm: Paprika Balkanicus (Romania/Serbia/Slovenia)
6.45-7.15pm: Nathan Flutebox Lee (India/UK)
7.45-8.30pm: The Imagined Village (UK)
9-00.10.15pm Khaled (Algeria)

SUNDAY 20th SEPTEMBER *

4.45-5.15pm: Siyaya (Zimbabwe)
5.45-6.15pm: Abdullah Chhadeh & Syriana (Syria)
6.45-7.15pm: Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara (UK/Gambia)
7.45-8.30pm Tony Allen (Nigeria)
9.00-10.15pm The Bays/Heritage (UK)

As part of the event there will be music workshops, where the audience has a chance to meet and learn about the visiting artists and their music. There will also be entertainment provided in the picnic areas throughout the day. The ubiquitous Womad flags will also be a feature of the weekend.

The blend of stunning surroundings in the heart of London, world class performances and quality food and drink is an experience not to be missed!
