exhibition: Aurangzeb, as he was according to Mughal Records (FACT, India)

Posted by ElJay Arem (IMC OnAir) on June 1, 2008

This exhibition contains, and is based on Farmans, original edicts in Persian issued by Aurangzeb, preserved at the Bikaner Museum, Rajasthan, India
.
Exhibit No. 17: “Burial of Music”. The musicians, wailing and lamenting carry the ‘bier’ of music in Aurangzeb’s presence. “Bury it so deep that no sound or echo of it may rise again”, Aurangzeb, (Muntakhab-al Lubab, p.213)
.
“No nation can move forward, unless it squarely faces its past. The courage to remember helps us not to repeat the same mistakes and to build a better future for our children” says H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living

FACT-Logo-2008-1FACT – India was started in 2003 by Francois Gautier, a French journalist, writer & historian who has been covering India and South Asia for the last 35 years. All throughout his reporting years, he noticed that most western correspondents were projecting the problems, warts and shortcomings of India. Hence when Francois Gautier got a journalism prize (Natchiketa Award of excellence in journalism) from the Prime Minister of India, he used the prize money to mount a series of conferences & exhibitions highlighting the magnificence of India and the threats to its sovereignty.
