Legendary Fusion Guitarist John McLaughlin will be touring North
America this fall starting with a show on September 13th at the
Carolina Theater in Durham (NC).

John McLaughlin is widely popular among Indian Music fans as the co-
founder of the biggest world music and Indian musical
outfit “Shakti” with tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain and legendary
percussionist Vikku Vinayakram from South India.

After being requested by the Indian President in 1997, to celebrate
the 50 years of Indian Independence from the British, John McLaughlin
was requested to reunite “Shakti”. This time he decided to invite the
genius Mandolin U.Shrinivas and V.Selvaganesh from the South along
with his musical brother Zakir Hussain.

John McLaughlin is returning to the Triangle area after two decades
and should be a treat for Indian music fans of all ages. Although not
with Shakti this time around, he will be performing with his new
band called the “4th Dimension“. It is strongly encouraged that you
bring your kids to this musical event as well as it serves to be a
great educational and entertaining experience as well.

John McLaughlin, who has been living in India for the past 6 months
has just recorded a DVD on “Konokol“, the ancient rhythm system that
is followed widely by musicians in India. He also recorded a new
album with a host of India superstars including Shankar Mahadevan,
Sivamani, U.Rajesh and others.

The DVD is also supposed to be launched on September 13, in Durham.
