MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide’s Global Channels business has announced the appointment of former Walt Disney executive Nachiket Pantvaidya as general manager, South Asia.
In this new role within the Global Channels South Asia structure, Pantvaidya will be responsible for leading the Global Channels team in the region and managing the growth strategy for BBC-branded channels.
While managing the BBC’s existing businesses and channels, Pantvaidya will also help drive further awareness of the BBC channel brands.
He will report to SVP Global Channels Asia-Pacific Christine Leo-McKerrow and will assume his new role on 11 July.
McKerrow says, “There is enormous opportunity for BBC Global Channels in India right now and we are delighted to have Nachiket’s unique strengths to build a deep business and to ensure our channels really resonate with our audience.”
Pantvaidya says, “While building on the foundation that the BBC team in India has already laid down, I am really excited by the opportunity to bring the full complement of BBC channels and quality content to Indian viewers. ”
Prior to this, Pantvaidya spent three years as executive director, programming and production, for Disney India’s channels.
Pantvaidya has also held several positions as part of the Sony Entertainment Television network in India, which included VP sales and marketing across the AXN, Animax and HBO channels.
